going to VBS

On this trip I learned that my pastor does an admirable Napolean Dynamite impression. This is at camp washing dishes. With no electricity and running water it was quite a trick washing dishes for 50 people.

VBS - Unalakleet

VBS in Unalakleet is going great! I (Annie) have the first and second grade team. We had 23 kids and 9 decisions today. Sunday we had 50 kids in the whole VBS, but I didn't get the final numbers for today. The kids are very excited for us to be there. Several times when I went out today I heard, "Annie, Annie!" I can't remember all thier names but I count on the teens to do that, since they already know them all already. There is a pastor from Skaman Bay (another village) here learning the CEF methods and he has been doing chapel for us every night (since Terry S. is in Koyuk). He is Jewish and very knowledgable. Tobin has been leading worship. The chapels are open to everyone from the village so it's like having church every night. Wednesday will be our last day of VBS and we will fly out to Soldatna that evening. We will stay in Soldatna that night then fly to Ankorage and then Juneau and get back very early on Friday morning. See you all soon!

Hi everyone

I wanted to let you all know that our first week of camp was great. We've had much ADVENTURE (Terri B. says she doesn't want to hear that word again for a long time) and many stories to tell you when we get back. Sunday through Thursday of this week we will be doing a VBS in Unalakleet with the teens from camp. Kathy, Terry, Mark and Emma are in Koyuk doing a VBS there. We are staying in different homes in the Unalakleet village. It is very stormy here tonight, but the locals say it's just a littlle wind. Terri L. and I are staying a home here in Unalakleet and we had Caribou Pizza for dinner. It was really good. The teens will be staying in the Youth Center with counselors, but since Terri and I were counselors last week, we will be team leaders this week. The teens are very eager to start teaching VBS! More stories later.

We are here!

Hi everyone,

I am writing from the home of Steve and Bev McKinley in Soldatna, AK. Our flights into Anchorage went well. This morning most of the team flew to Soldatna. I (Annie) drove to Soldatna with Mandy McKinley. What a beautiful drive! We stopped to hike to a glacier and look at a mountain goat. Yesterday we saw a moose.
Tomorrow we will go to church with the McKinley's in the morning and then have a get together. On Monday we will fly to Unalakleet and head up to the camp.
Please pray for good rest tonight and safe travels to Unalakleet. I don't know if or when I'll be able to update you again.
